Jimmy Lange Boxing Returns July 10 to Patriot Center Coleman-Fuller Meet in Co-Main Event, Latin Sensations Salinas and Rodriquez, plus “KO King” Jeter Showcased FAIRFAX, VA (June 1, 2010) -- Celebrate summer with the ‘sweet science’ as popular junior middleweight contender Jimmy Lange (31-4-2, 22 KOs) of Great Falls, VA headlines another exciting Ice Promotions boxing event (www.jimmylangeboxing.com) on Saturday, July 10 at the Patriot Center. Dubbed “No Excuses” and presented by Valcourt Building Services (www.valcourt.net), the event will showcase seven professional bouts featuring many of the region’s best fighters. Tickets can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Patriot Center box office, with prices starting at $35. Lange looks to get back on the winning track after losing his World Boxing Council (WBC) USNBC Championship title to Chase Shields in a 12-round decision last March. The opponent for Lange, who also held the WBC’s Continental Americas 154-pound belt, has not yet been named. One of the region’s top draws based on his attractive fighting style, tremendous heart and overall positive character, Lange has gone 6-2-1 in front of large crowds as the Patriot Center headliner over the past six years. The Bishop O’Connell graduate was showcased on the first season of the NBC reality boxing TV series The Contender. His bout will be a 10-round contest.
The eight-round co-main event promises to be an exciting welterweight (non-title) showdown between Baltimore’s Tim “Pitt Bull” Coleman (17-1-1, 4 KOs) and tough southpaw Damian Fuller (30-7-1, 14 KOs) of Detroit. Coleman is coming off a win against Mike Arnaoutis for the vacant United States Boxing Association (USBA) 140-pound belt last December. Meanwhile, veteran southpaw Fuller lost to world contender Lamont Peterson in his most recent fight held April 10, 2010. Both have fought previously at the Patriot Center – Coleman won his third pro fight impressively against Spencer Harsley on September 17, 2005, while Fuller successfully beat another “Pitt Bull”, Dean White, on the May 12, 2007 card. Fighting out of LA Boxing (Chantilly, Reston/Herndon and Woodbridge), Jennifer Salinas (11-1, 4 KOs) of Manassas, VA will fight in a six-round contest against an undetermined opponent. Tough and talented with beauty to match, “The Bolivian Queen” has developed a strong following in the region when she returned to the ring in 2009 after giving birth to her second child in 2008. In his first four pro fights, Juan “The Savior” Rodriguez (4-0, 4 KOs) of Haymarket, VA has rarely been tested, scoring knock outs of each opponent -- three before the end of round one. Training out of Olympic Boxing Center in Falls Church, VA, the 20-year old fighter’s reputation as one of the best welterweight prospects continues to grow, drawing notice from around the boxing world. His nickname pays homage to his parents who are natives of El Salvador. Dontre King (2-7-1, 1 KOs) of Cambridge, MD, a tough competitor with deceptive ring record, will face Rodriguez in a six-round welterweight contest. After recording what many believe was the beltway’s top knockout of 2009, Tony “Mo Better” Jeter (9-2, 8 KOs) of Columbia, MD is poised to bring his punching prowess back to the Patriot Center to face Reston, VA’s Lawrence Jones (3-2-1, 1 KO) in a six-round middleweight bout. Training out of Severna Park, MD’s Club One Fitness, Jeter dropped Keith Gross with one punch on the September 26, 2009 Patriot Center card, instantly becoming the talk of the Beltway boxing community. Since returning to the pro ranks after a three-year layoff from 2005 to 2008, Jeter has gone undefeated in five bouts. In his last contest, Jones, representing LA Boxing, earned a split decision win over Vincent Batteast in a heavily-contested affair last March in Fairfax. Promising middleweight prospect Brandon Quarles from Alexandria Boxing Club, who boasts 40 amateur wins and Golden Gloves experience, will make his professional debut against Vince “The Beast” Batteast (1-2-1) of Annapolis, MD in a four-round middleweight contest. Doors open at 6:30 pm with the first fight set for 7:30 pm. Tickets, priced at $35, $50, $75, $100, $125, $200, $300 and $500 (plus applicable service charge), can be purchased through Ticketmaster by logging onto www.ticketmaster.com, calling phone charge at 703-573-SEAT, 202-397-SEAT or 410-547-SEAT or by visiting any Ticketmaster outlet, including the Patriot Center box office (703-993-3000). Unbeaten Zsolt Bedak fighting outside of Europe for first time in WBO title fight vs. Vazquez “Undefeated Champions” PPV May 29 in Puerto Rico
HOBOKEN, N.J. (May 5, 2010) – Hungarian-born and Germany based Zsolt “Mr. Lefthook” Bedak, the WBO No. 1 contender, fights outside of Europe for the first time in his pro career May 29 against WBO Junior Featherweight Champion Wilfredo “WV2” Vazquez, Jr., headlining the “Undefeated Champions” pay per view event, airing live in the United States from Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
“Undefeated Champions,” presented by PR Best Boxing in association with All Star Boxing, features three world title bouts. It is being distributed in the United States by Integrated Sports Media for live viewing at 9 PM/ET – 6 PM/PT on both cable and satellite pay-per-view via iN Demand, DIRECTV, and DISH Network, for a suggested retail price of only $34.95.
Boricua star Vazquez (18-0-1, 15 KOs), the son of a former world champion (Wilfredo Vazquez), makes his first title defense against unbeaten challenger Bedak (14-0-1, 12 KOs), who doesn’t believe fighting for the first time outside of Europe will be a problem for him.
“This will indeed be my first pro fight outside of Europe and, sure, this is a new situation for me,” Bedak explained. “However, I am not really concerned about this. Also, the champ is in a special situation because it can be even harder to fight in one’s hometown as fans, friends, family, sponsors, etc. can put quite some pressure on a boxer defending his title and not wanting to disappoint them.”
Bedak, 26, captured the WBO European and WBO Inter-Continental super bantamweight titles last year. “This will, of course, be my most important fight and it’s an honor for me to be shown in television in the U.S.,” Zsolt added. “I expect a fair and open fight. I am prepared to go 12 rounds – I always do -- and would not be surprised if the fight goes the full distance.
“I rely on a good combination of technique and power, as well as quick moves and jabs. Vazquez is a complete and very skilled fighter, offensively. I’ve fought four Latin fighters, so I have some experience with that style.”
WBO junior lightweight champion Roman “Rocky” Martinez (22-0-1, 14 KOs) makes the second defense of his title in the 12-round co-feature against WBO No. 10 rated Gonzalo “El Destructor” Mungia (17-6-3, 13 KOs) Martinez, rated No. 3 by The Ring, takes on the reigning WBO Latino super featherweight title-holder, Nicaraguan challenger Mungia.
The third world title fight on this explosive, highly-entertaining card matches females Hanna Gabriel (9-0-1, 5 KOs) and Gardy Pena (9-1-2, 6 KOs) for the vacant WBO super welterweight crown in a 10-round bout. Fighting on the undercard are the Arroyo twins, bantamweight McJoe (1-0, 1 KO) and McWilliams (1-0, 1 KO), the former Puerto Rican Olympians. All fights and fighters are subject to change.

MARTINEZ OUTPOINTS BLOODY PAVLIK TRUFAN APRIL 18, 2010 They say to be the man you got to beat the man. This is exactly what Jr. middleweight champion Sergio Martinez did in Atlantic City last night, dethroning middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik after 12 fast paced rounds.
The bout stared well for the challenger, who's movement gave Pavlik trouble the first four rounds. Pavlik came on in the 5th and was establishing ring presence until the 8th, when Martinez scored heavily and turned the momentum for the stretch run. The final tallies were 116-111, 115-111, 115-112. TRUFAN scored the bout for Martinez 115-112.
Martinez was simply too fast and quick and it seemed to befuddle Pavlik, who had suffered cuts over both eyes. Pavlik's corner seemed as confused concerning the handling of their fighter's cuts, which hampered Pavlik late in the bout. Pavlik just could not see clearly as Martinez gained a second wind.
A rematch clause was signed before this bout, so many fans should not be surprised if Pavlik-Martinez II happens later this year. Stay tuned.
